Hey Reader,
I envy people who are not neurodivergent.
It's tiresome being ADHD. Especially an ADHD entrepreneur.
This week proved it.
How It Started
Monday I was obsessed with Indian weaves. Created a logo for the new brand. Everything felt fun and possible.
Tuesday a real estate agent called about a land and house.
That was it.
What Happened Next
For 3 continuous days, I went like a maniac.
40-50 plots. 10-15 houses. In 40+ degree heat. In the middle of summer. Going in the morning and afternoon.
Not a single one clicked.
I didn't like any of them.
The Worst Part
I could feel it draining me. I knew it was pointless. I desperately wanted to stop and just rest at home.
But I couldn't switch it off.
My brain wouldn't let me. The obsession had taken over completely.
That's the thing about ADHD - when your mind says "go, go, go," you can't just decide to stop. Your willpower means nothing against that force.
What I Did
I told myself: no more real estate calls for 10 days. No searching online. Nothing.
When I made that decision, relief flooded through me.
Like, oh my god, I'm breaking free from this obsession.
And that - stopping yourself when your brain is screaming to keep going - that was my achievement this week.
Not finding the perfect house. Not being productive. Just... stopping.
For People Like Us
Getting over an obsession is nearly impossible when you're in it.
But catching yourself and choosing to stop? That's harder than any of the stuff people usually celebrate.
That's the real win.
Cheers,
Hema
(Indian names can be tricky to pronounce 😅 — mine's "hay-maa" — simple as that!)
P.S - What was your achievement last week? I want to know.
p.p.s - If you're the type of person who always scrolls to the bottom of emails and reads this type of stuff, we're probably kindred spirits. Thanks for sticking around despite all my mental detours.
